A Case of Successful Pregnancy and Preterm Vaginal Delivery Following Renal Transplantation


Abstract
Following renal transplantation, it is often possible to achieve parenthood. If a female recipient becomes pregnant, she must be considered at high risk and monitered carefully. The better the renal function before pregnancy, the more
satisfactory
the
obstetric outcome. Pregnancy in transplanted mothers presents many complex medical problems and is related to definite risks to both mother and fetus.
Various experiences is reperted for pregnancy in renal transplanted patients. But we have little information about it. Renal function during pregnancy was carefully monitered and regular antenatal care was recommanded. She was taken
immunosuppressive
drugs continuously as well as during pregnancy.
Pregnancy following renal transplantation is not without risk. Thus sexually active female transplant recipients should be counseied regarding pregnancy and sterilization should be offered as an option at the of transplantation.
We experienced a case of successful pregnancy occurred 12 months following renal transplantation from her father, and complicated by premature rupture of the membranes at 37 gestational weeks and preterm vaginal delivery of 2,220 grams normal
female
infant. She was taken immunosuppressive drugs (azathioprine, sandimum and prednisone) continuously throughout the pregnancy. Three months after delivery, at present time, she and her baby are without complications.
So we reported a cases of successful pregnancy and preterm vaginal delivery with review of recent literatures.
